Pool Pal
As stated in the World Health Organization website, "Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury related deaths."
The purpose of this project is to design an alert system for pools. The system aims at informing the user if someone has entered the water while the alarm system is active. We achieve this by using image recognition software that will be activated when the infrared sensor on the system is triggered. The camera will recognize a person or pet, track their movement throughout the frame, and will exclude any foreign objects that are not of interest. If a person or pet falls into the pool, the alarm will sound, when the system is armed. The camera system will provide a live camera feed with audio to the user through a phone app along with an “Arm” and “Disarm” feature.

Live Feed Camera
There will be a camera that will be activated the moment that the alarm is activated or the user remotely activates it.
Alarm System
The Pool Pal will have an alarm system that will activate in the event that someone falls in the pool while the system is active.
Image Recognition
Software will use image recognition techniques to determine if a person or a pet are in the pool.
Motion Sensors
Using infrared sensors the Pool Pal will detect movement and approaching visitors to the pool.
Wi-fi
The system will be WI-fi accessible and will be means by which the phone app will be receiving information from the Pool Pal.
Phone App
The phone app will have a "Arm" and "Disarm" option along with a live feed of the camera when activated.
